Here is a quick post, the last of the week. This is the Boobrie, from my speculative evolution project Gorgaias.

Boobrie are descended from the Marabou Stork. They are seabirds, similar to a pelican. Boobrie soar above coastal waters and estauries scooping up fish and squid with their large beaks, the lower half of which could expand in a similar manner to a pelicans to hold onto large prey items. Much like the ancestral Marabou and seabirds such as the Frigatebirds, Boobrie have a large inflatable gular sac. Both sexes have this and it can be used to amplify their calls, to signal territorial boundries or scare off enemies. During the mating season, the males gular sac grows larger and develops a rosy color. The head and neck of the Boobrie are mostly hairless and instead protected by thick rubbery skin.
