Description   NOTE
Another galaxy art!
Scanned this as well and it looked so beautiful!
I'm really happy how it turned out too and it's been awhile since I have made a galaxy art due to my busy schedule at work.

hm yeah... in cities the sky is brown because of the city light, that's so sad
I've been once in a small town in the montains and one night, the electricity in the whole town went down
The sky was more white than black from all the stars we could see, it was magic

Well done; however, I guess this will be the 1st time I step in and try to give you a few pointers since you decided to include a landscape. I did tell you perspective was the 1st thing I learned as an artist and the one thing I'll never forget. Also, that I'm a "correctionist." So, even though I don't illustrate backgrounds often, I can pinpoint errors. Well, I'll critique it if you given me permission to do so. It may contain things you may have already been aware of since it was speed paint. I only desire to help when I'm able.

It wasn't speed paint XD This took me about 3 and a 1/2 hours max just to dry off layer after layer XD
But yes, feel free to critique it, after all I'm still an amateur

Four hours is short imo, but it is true that masterpieces can be made in even less time. Well then, I'll try to explain in the same order as the video. Firstly, ignore the edges if you aren't already doing so. I noticed you were putting most of the color in the center and coloring the rest of the sides black. Of course, this is fine if you plan to crop the painting after its completion; however, it would can be noticed by the viewer if not. Next, the landscape. I didn't notice if you used guidelines, but they would greatly help bring the image in the direction you want to go. Also, you would have a nice effect if you took into account that water reflects light. In other words, you missed the chance to add more stars within the lake. As for perspective, the trees can be seen as too big or the ground underneath them can be seen as to far away. You would need the lake to separate the ground underneath the trees from the mountains or decrease the size of the trees as they approach the mountains. It would also be best to overlap the trees and the ground beneath them. Oh, and finally, I should mention that the the mountains and the trees would normally be reflected by the lake as well. That should be all, but I'll add that references would help you the most. Simply looking up stuff like "lake night sky" would give you a better idea of what I explained. Doesn't hurt to make the piece horizontal as well. Personally, I like image sizes that I can display on my computer. Artwork of this size would fit a phone, but it'd be even better if it was intended for both. Well, that was lengthier than I though it would be, but hopefully I was able to help.  My only question would be if the blur above the trees was intentional or caused by the scanner? At 1st, I thought it as digital editing; but now that I think about it, a water bleed would also create the same effect.

Orphicallygenous In reply to cyges [2016-05-22 04:59:32 +0000 UTC]

lol thanks for that! It's the scanner's fault with the trees part! D: I scanned it in a public computer shop since I'm too poor to have my own scanner (lol thus I am working hard, having a job, earning money to buy one myself xD)
I could make it landscape but my concept was something above than something wide
But thanks anyway!

Anytime you include a landscape, fell free to ask for advice. Of course, I may have the urge to advise you on my own. Sadly, I can't say I'm all that great at landscapes myself. It's been a long time since I've done any art at all. I'll consider sharing my abilities after I get the hang of it again. However, are you sure you don't want someone with an art program to edit your art a bit? I believe there's free programs out there you can use, but I have some experience if you need it.

Nahh, I'd rather not tamper with my original traditional stuff. I mean, after all, it is traditional painting. not Traditional Digital painting
I hope that clarifies it

cyges In reply to Orphicallygenous [2016-05-25 09:28:04 +0000 UTC]

You misunderstand. Cropping and adjusting doesn't make it digital at all. Photography isn't considered digital or traditional, and a scanner does just the same, only with better alignment. It's all about the process, so it's still considered traditional. Anyhow, it's fine if you don't mind presenting your art here with minor slip-ups from the scanner. When it comes to photographing/scanning, lighting sometimes needs adjusting. The angle and size of the image may need adjusting as well. I wouldn't say digital editing makes traditional art digital. All that's being done is a few touch-ups to make it more presentable. I've never tried it before, but I believe blurs can be fixed as well. A better way to put it is no rendering is being done. No content is being added to the painting. Errors are only being corrected. Sorry if this wasn't clear earlier.

Orphicallygenous In reply to cyges [2016-05-25 09:36:26 +0000 UTC]

Oh wait, which part should I crop or resize in the painting that you said? I've already cropped the galaxy one (with the trees and mountains). If I resize, the original size, it would turn out into a bad quality, like, the details would be sharpened or something. (If that to be resized into something smaller than a larger file that is.
This was already edited (fixed and straighten out). The "Errors" has been corrected already

cyges In reply to Orphicallygenous [2016-05-25 10:02:29 +0000 UTC]

It's clear this piece has been corrected up to an extent. The blur requires professional hands. The best examples that would need digital editing would be your earlier works such as: the ones with wrinkles, the ones with bad angles, and the ones from your sketchbook which include the binding. I noticed some were intentional so that you could include your colors and tools. Of course, all paintings you photographed can be replaced with scans when you find the time and money. (assuming your scans cost you) No need if you have no plans to make use of the scans, such as printing a copy to give to a friend.

Orphicallygenous In reply to cyges [2016-05-25 10:46:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes, scans costs me, that's why I have a job (as a tourist guide) to earn for well, a scanner is on one of them and probably soon, an oculus as well.
That's why I said I was an amateur, as you said "it's clear this piece has been corrected". Meaning you have already know, at the same time, I'm just an amateur. It's better off, with a bit of flaw in my art now don't you think?
Well, I can't say for you, since you are a perfectionist, that's something you wouldn't understand

cyges In reply to Orphicallygenous [2016-05-25 16:35:04 +0000 UTC]

Correction, "Correctionist!"  I do understand though. Some mishaps can make art better than it was before; however, it can't always be reproduced. So, it can come off as "not what the artist intended" or "not the best representation of skill." Well, I'll be rooting for you to get that scanner asap.
