More like good children will leave or live in the village (exploring the wonderland will probably get you killed). Bad children are youkai chow. Either way, it benefits Yukari's preservation of Gensokyo quite perfectly.

Well, except you don't get to "enjoy" the eastern wonderland.... You get to toil away your entire life in a Japanese feudalistic society while surrounded by all varieties of magical creatures that won't hesitate to kill and devour you at night or outside human village boundaries. Realistically speaking, a regular gapped-in human probably won't have any special powers to look forward to anyways.

This. Not to mention that, being a feudal society, the humans must dislike foreigners, or baka-gajin outsiders. I even read headcanons that the humans of the village lure outsiders in order to hand them to youkai to leave them alone.
