Description It's been hella long since I've uploaded anything.

Took me too long to put this together. And like most pictures I do, I can't stand looking at it anymore... If you see something "off", give me a shout -- I'd love a critique.

EDIT
This Deadpool print needs a Deadpool "Yellow Box" of awesome quotation-ness. Kindly take the time to do the poll and decide what will go on this print: [link]

Edit #2
Subtle edits based on feedback and added Mr. Yellow Box.

Thanks! I really appreciate your support and patronage!! Was it back in August or more recently at the fan appreciation show?

I'm not sure where to get the sleeves in Toronto. We get ours through a distributor. But you could try asking your local comic book store or art store or sports memorabilia store. Please Let me know if you do find a toronto retailer that sells them.

No Prob! It was more recently at the fan appreciation show. Yeah I'll ask around some more and if I do find a local retailer I'll let you know for sure. Are you going to be at the fanexpo in august?

Dan, because I don't have a premium account I can't use the Critique feature. I'll do it here instead:

Your attention to detail is impressive, especially on the assortment of weapons surrounding Deadpool. The colouring is also well done. Overall, the composition is balanced and dark, which is great. This is an effective pin-up. One thing I think you could have done better is the actual pose Deadpool is in. Because of the way he's crouching, it almost looks as if he's buckling under the weight of all those weapons. I know that Deadpool is notorious for carrying a ridiculous amount of weaponry, but in your illustration you have swords sticking in the ground, and that makes me wonder where his feet are placed, and what his surroundings are. The whole thing would come together nicely if his feet were shown, like if he was crouching on a ledge. The upper half of his body works perfectly on its own, and if you had cut the illustration off at his waist--like a bust--it would be fine.

Oshouki In reply to ADAMshoots [2009-07-27 03:35:37 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the critique. I'll keep the composition thought in mind for next time. Truth be told, I added the foreground swords sticking out of the ground because I just got exhausted rendering guns and needed something to fill up space. Originally, I had planned to have him carrying twice the amount of guns.

Drawing him to his ankles is a subtle "homage" to Mr. Liefeld's skill in avoiding the drawing of feet...

"..milk money" my personal favourite, but "guns don't kill people.." is a close second -- and seems to be most popular so far on the poll.

Knollilocks [2009-07-25 17:40:01 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, this looks brilliant! It's hard to give critique on something that's so beautifully produced and not have it be coloured by personal preference.

The contrast and toning on the figure and his various assortment of weapons look great, realistic, but not too heavily rendered and they really give me a sense of the kind of materials they're made out of.

I like the scratchy quality of the overlayed text too, but the brick texture is the only thing that pulls the piece down for me. If you'd 3D modeled Deadpool then I think they'd fit seamlessly, but at the minute it looks too like an merge between 3D and 2D graphics that's a little awkward.

Aesthetically it looks great overall, you could sell it as a print without changing anything.

Oshouki In reply to Knollilocks [2009-07-26 04:25:46 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Leah. You're too kind with your comment!

What if the wall was less photo realistic? I was exhausted after doing all those weapons that I just didn't want to draw a brick wall, so I used a stock photo. But I meant to blur it or add some sort of filter, but forgot. Thanks for pointing it out. I too hate when drawn images get slapped over photographic ones.

Hopefully this will be a good seller come this August.

I cannot make it to the store today. My family are meeting with my girlfriend's family for the first time over lunch this afternoon, so I'm going to be tied up with that. However, I will let nothing stop me from the next meeting (the 9th, I believe?)

Anyway, stay dry outside, my friend!

Family and girlfriend's family meetings for the first time are generally awkward. I hope yours went well.

Luckily, I got home just before the downpour today. See you in 2 weeks. Btw, I heard from Todd you were in the store this week with your newly minted graphic novel -- I'd love to see it then.

ADAMshoots In reply to Oshouki [2009-07-28 04:34:08 +0000 UTC]

The inevitable family gathering went smoothly, thanks.

Yes, I did show Todd my graphic novel proof. As I'm sure you already know, Todd is really supportive of guys like us. So aside from getting some honest feedback on the book itself, I wanted his opinions from a retailer perspective. I'll happily bring it to the next meeting, and since both you and Chris have experience printing your material, I'm sure you'll offer valuable critiques and insights on post-production.

Yo Osh!

The textures they look pretty sick man, specially the suit. The only thing off (for me) is that lump on his head and I would have leave more space for the text to breath...

Other than that, you are good to go!
