Description
During a lazy sunday afternoon canoe trip our ubiquitous heroes Michael and Victoria (credit DAZ3D) encounters some very odd plants along the river bank. Curious, they move closer to take a look. It was probably not a very bright idea...Suggestions and critisism greatly appreciated.
Modelled and rendered in Cararra 8.5. It took a little more than 8 h on my i7 computer. The trees are from the rather crude tree generator in Cararra. Reeds, grass, log, water lilies, insects and carnivorous plants were modeled by me. If you are interested in the models, just ask. The skelton is a really ugly one in the Cararra library.

I like realism of the water and colour of the sky, but from artistic point of view I'd expect the swamp grasses and trees to be more toned in colours (more brown/grey like that plants over the heads of the characters). That would a bit to the mood like "On the happy sunny day, people are not expecting dark and dangerous plants hidden in the bush".
Your models are really detailed! Water lilly is photorealistic, juices dripping from carnivorous plants, beetle on the leaf... From this environment really only standard trees stands out. I've noticed that Carrara's tree generator it's although fairy flexible it's quite easy to go out of comfort zone, where procedural trees look realistic. That tree with almost straight branches angled at 45 degrees doesn't look very realistic in my eyes (at least I don't know that species)

I confess to being lazy with the reeds. There could be some more color variation. It is so easy to go overboard with very saturated colors.
I agreethat the trees, especially the smallones suck. Generated trees are quite OK for backgrounds but as soon as they get close the illusion breaks. Or with 45 degree branches. I stated to make a good one manually and I haven't given up but it is a massive amount of work with a natural looking tree.
Thanks again for helping out.

Cool idea and great modeling! I guess, or two protagonists will soon have a far more "insight view" into the plants than they wanted
