Description
Not a particularly speedy Edaphosaurus, that is, but a none too neatly detailed Edaphosaurus I did rather quickly to try out an idea I had for sailbacked pelycosaur coloration. Originally I was going to make it a Dimetrodon, but then I realized the colors might not make a lot of sense for an apex predator. As a result the sail is highly speculative what with the base of the spines buried in muscle and the tips free from the sail (inspired by the way a lot of Edaphosaurus spines seem to be missing the tip, although this could be postmortem breakage).Related content

In those times big brains were rare cases so most of creatures just had no need in big braincases.

Tiny head is tiny. But hey, at least it's not Cotylorhynchus.

I'll do synapsids every now and then, but I can't predict yet which one and when.

Thanks!
I looked at a couple of skeletal drawings and skeletal reconstructions, and based on them yes, but at least some of them had the vertebral column and skull from different individuals, so I'm not sure. Another thing I'm not sure about is the length of the tail (seems to be missing in a lot of specimens).
