So this is the Fang costume I wore for Animazement 2010...I was on very short notice at the time, so I had to make it quickly. My choice of fabric turned out to be much lighter than what I've seen other Fangs wear... but I liked it. This costume is pretty much one long piece of fabric with the (inaccurate) trim added to it, yet I still managed to make it somewhat indecent >_<. I chose to use foxtails for those fur thingies that hang off the belt (now that I've think about it I use too many dead animals in my costumes... >_> ) and acquired some similar looking jewelry to avoid making my own =_=
I was most excited about making the prop
YEAH! It's a pvc tube decorated with fiberglass fabric, gold trim, nail polish and glitter glue. The blades on Highwind are made of my bestest friend styrene (plastic sheets).It's tricky to make myself look good in this costume cuz I'm not tall at all compared to the rest of my group, plus I gotta fake tan at least two days before wearing this.

Id like to cosplay Fang one day but in not very tall and am kind of stocky compared to her tall lithe figure.

you just need to get a Vanille that is smaller than you! My Vanille was taller than me, but for photos she would sit or bend down to make me look taller.
I think her build is more muscular than the rest of the cast and that's why I ended up cosplaying this chara for our group, because I have a thicker build, but I guess most people would get the impression I'm rather tall just by looking at my solo pictures.

Yeah. Im planning to just go solo. All my friends are taller then me. I'm a bit thicker as well.
You did look tall. And What your Vanille did worked. As Vanille does do alot of bending over.
I'm planning to make her staff by hand. Pull apart and all. So it should be interesting.

Now that I'm trying much more varied things, I really like the aspect of cosplay, that turns you into a different person.
I think most people have a hard time recognizing me if I use my real hair LOL.

You can start with something more comfortable like a schoolgirl, casual outfit, or some loli stuff.
The spear is PVC pipe and styerene sheets mostly, plus a lot of painting.

It's cardboard sandwiched between two styrene plastic sheets, then spray painted. I was too lazy to make then swivel like they should, but looks cool yo!
