Description
*****PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE IMAGE FOR A BETTER VIEW!*****Waahooooooooooo My first ever tutorial!
Please bear with me.
*******EDIT: wow can't believe how many likes this tutorial has gotten XD I'm glad it helped out a lot of you~! This is officially my most liked item in my gallery period LOL
First I want to apologize for not knowing a whole lot about most of the stuff I just wanted this tutorial to be as a helpful hint to the newbies to SAI who can't get their magic wand tool to work.
Like all others that ask the same question I didn't know why my magic wand tool wouldn't select just a specific part of the image and it would select the whole page and I finally figured it out on my own today and figured i'd write up a short tutorial for those in need of it!
If you use it fav it and comment and please keep all credits to me for this tutorial. I love it when I feel like i'm actually helping someone. If you noticed something I missed please comment! I take criticism very well! I only want to get better so please by all means!
This line art used in the tutorial is (c) to the talented *JadeDragonne

Why does no one have what i need? This tool is also used with lines, which is exacly what i need. Clicking one place, then another. (over another drawing/base)
This is so confusing..

Is it possible to change the selection- color? I dislike this blue selection, i want a pink one.. (I don't mean changing the color of the picture D: Only of the selection)

I have a question. When I select the part I want to color using the magic wand, how come it selects other parts/overlaps them? (i'm not doing this on a new layer by the way). Do I need to draw my lines more clearly?Β

Is it possible to delete the area selected? Like in Photoshop or every other program you can select an area and delete it, so that this area is translucent now.

how do you use it to make the white bits (the background) around an image transparent?

Caskyl In reply to Aertice [2016-01-30 02:34:35 +0000 UTC]
Make a layer under your drawing and when you save it, uncheck the background and save it as a .png Β

ctrl+d or selection>clear works
alternately, if you want to deselect only one area/color, alt+click while the wand tool is selected will deselect what you click on.

First link on Google, help for exactly what I needed. (Story time!!)
So I outlined a drawing I made on paper, and found out that I forgot to make a new layer xD
Used this tutorial to choose only the outline (since the paper was white-ish) and it worked perfectly!
Thanks so much!

I got Question,Everytimes i use the magic wand tool on my picture to lay down the color ( ctrl+F) then all the lineart that i drew, all disappeared .....T.T...any solutions ?apparently the line inside should stay the same but it's filled and go over the lines with the color i lay down ??? is there any problems with my SAI ?

I am late with this, but you are most likely pasting your colour on the same layer as your lineart. Make a new layer, place it UNDER your lineart layer and the problem should be fixed.

Sweet baby Jesus this was starting to drive me INSANE. Thank you for the easy to understand Tutorial I'd like to make note that if you're selecting different already colored areas for shading or something, setting the bar to 0 worked best for me
