Description
Part two of the Switzerland story! I call this section "smart guys yelling at each other."Part I: [link]
Part III: [link]
Some notes:
A lot of this section is in reference to a prologue of the Pseudoscientists story: When Dr. Jekyll was 19, he was part of a voyage to the arctic where he encountered Frankenstein for the first time. Frankenstein was at this point frostbitten and hallucinating and near death, but Jekyll painstakingly managed to nurse him back to health. A friendship (?) was started.
The Frankenstein at THAT point was very much the gloomy romantic scientist of the novel. It's meant to be a bit ironic that Frankenstein calls out Jekyll for being depressed and mopey when he himself is more than prone to melancholy moods.
They are both very different people now! But being so much in debt to Jekyll makes Frankenstein extremely uncomfortable, and he tends to respond by being brash and irreverent. (He also is pretty much ignoring the fact that Jekyll is out of his element and could really use his help.)
Also this is one of the silliest Hydes I have ever drawn. Apologies!

I'm glad it looks that way, but believe me it took me a lot of time and practice. XD And Jekyll and Hyde are STILL really hard for me to draw!

Even so, it looks amazing! I mean, how long did it take you to perfect it! I also have a question for you...What do you draw first? The body? The head? The face? I have yet to solve this problem! I need your advice please! <={

I usually do a quick thumbnail pass to get down the gesture, pose, and emotions of the character.... then I do a second pass getting the construction of the character down, then a clean-up pass

This is amazing! The drawings are so clear and beautiful and the staging and use of secondary action throughout is fantastic! The presentation is not awkward either as is usually the case with storyboard. Applause!

This is super good! Great posing and staging. That is the cutest darn Frankenstein I've ever seen, haha, HIS LITTLE HANDSSS
Also! Rando question - I've only just started fiddling around with TVpaint myself (can't even figure out the shortcuts, oooh it's sad, haha), and was wondering which brush you used for this? It looks a bit like the pencil in the classic tools section, but not quite? I really like the dark but textureyness of it, whatever it is.

otherwise In reply to devengreves [2011-09-25 04:29:25 +0000 UTC]
I'm pretty sure I am working with a pretty basic pencil brush (I first do roughs in blue, which you can get rid of later, then in black). It may look different because I may have messed around with the options under the "toolencilbrush" panel....

I'm sorry, that Hyde DOES look rather silly, though relatively quick to draw, so yay.
Much love for Frankenstein's 'kill your body' reasoning and the fact that Creature speaks in complete sentences. I always preferred that to the more ridiculous 'mash gooooood' type Creature.

I'm glad someone appreciated the "kill your body" banter, because I thought I was really smart when I thought that up. XD
The Creature is surprisingly fun to write for these little stories! He's kind of the voice of reason when all the nutty scientists are having little slapfights. Basically: "Girls! Girls. You're both pretty. Can I go home now?"

again, the fluent movements, STUNNING and extremely amusing <3
poor jekyll, he's not getting the hang of this at all, hope he doesn't have severe back pains from all that. I'm starting to feel bad for laughing as his clumsiness.
i'm kinda enjoying the little tension drama occuring, it says alot about their relationship and personalities.

Hyde will be making a REAL, non-derpy appearance in the next section!
I seem to be obeying my least favorite law of Jekyll and Hyde stories: Hyde can only show up halfway through the story, and you have to spend the entire first half listening to Jekyll's emo moaning.
