Description
Concept drawing for my 3rd year film :3Jekyll shows Rachel some wonders!
Once again I seem to be relying heavily on bright lights in dark places >>;;;;; I repeat myself so often....

This is a beautiful illustration for your film! I watched it, and let me say, it's one of the sweetest, most beautiful films I've seen come out of CalArts. You do such wonderful work! Your characters are so charming, and your stories are sweet... I wish you every success!

Thank you! It's a bit tough to make an emotional (alternatively: sappy) film at Calarts. XD It's always great to hear when people like it!

as always, EXPRESSIONS.
that is all.
actually it's not really all, but if I said any more it would turn into another ramblecomment. :< I would have seen this sooner, but my inbox is always so full it's horrifying. I honestly never see any picture that I would actually CARE about until like a week after they've been uploaded.

Bright light in dark places is so very pretty, though!
I love the colors you used and the looks on their faces, it's a really sweet picture. c:

If you need inspiration! Watch or read "Mary Reilley"

I have read that! Rachel came more or less out of that character XD
.....she's basically Mary Reilly: the comedy. And if Mary were sort of a voyeur.

Indeed! It.... really makes me wish they'd cast someone more attractive--or at least somewhat less lecherous-looking-than--John Malcovich XD

lecherous-looking...Oh you mean when he portraied Dr Jekyll...perhaps?! He played excellent at Mr Hyde but as Dr Jekyll he fellt pretty stiff!
I just read the book and was a little bit disappointed! There is no hot chemistry or nasty talk like they have in the movie! No hot kiss or wicked temptations! Damn!

Actually I was more concerned--on a more aesthetic level, mind--with Mary having sexy dreams about..... Hyde-Malcovich XDDD Gross....
Yeah, the book is very cold by comparison to a lot of its interpretations--in particular, there are really no female characters. XD

GUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
SO......BEAUTIFUL....
My film has almost no bright sparkly colors to it....except for Tommy's *shojo* vision....

I actually think that it COULD. (I've been trying to come up with ideas for it, if you don't mind XD )
I mean, if you even did something as simple as set it in a movie theater instead of a living room, you could have lighting effects.

Ooooooh, I'm liking the idea of the movie theater!!! Thanks!
It does make a lot more sense, doesn't it?
And in the original setting, they were watching the movie in the dark, so it would have relatively the same lighting as the theater.
But I'd love to hear more of your ideas!

Well, I think it's beautiful. And if the similar scheme and lights work in both places, I say go for it! (Unless you'll be, like, graded on originality from film to film.) Also, you convey a lot of Rachel's personality with just the little gesture she's doing there, one hand holding itself back.
This would also make a great poster, all by itself!

This is exactly what was in my head. EXACTLY. Well, almost. But close enough. Especially with that lighting. That beautiful, beautiful, lighting.
;-; It's so wonderful.
