Description ok so I took some advice, and just started bull shitting on a canvas until I got a pose then, I thought I have seen this before so I dug through nearly a TB of scans, and art books in my possession until i found it! Bleach: Official Character Book 2 MASKED The captains, and vice-captains references from the previous generations. Sōjun Kuchiki 6th squad vice captain, and Byakuyas father. (btw I'm not obsessed I swear I just like the way Kubos Noble families work.)

Anyway I started editing my sketch accordingly, and now I'm a little irritated. My eyes :/ I dislike them. I want then to look sadder, yet still with that smile (like a regret type of sad like 'i wish i could have helped but i didn't and i'm sorry'....). I can't seem to find good sad references though. I've tried a few different things but I'd like other opinions. Any other crits you have would be nice too.

PS. I'm in love with the nose I did ATM :3 so proud of myself right now.

Also I'm not trying for an 'anime' style. I'm going for a more semi-realistic-ish look for those giving crit.

To I'm really looking for help on facial expressions, and structure over all.

!!EDIT #2!!
Last time I promise Just one last line update before i begin painting it. :3 I'm happy with the changes but CC is still loved. I hope i can relay his expression when i start to paint and shade though. fingers crossed.

!!EDIT!!
Added an improvement shot, bu I'm still working on it :3
The nose is more proportioned now, nostrils need to be move a wee bit though.I also fixed the lips, and got an expression. I'm very happy with this worried look. I also fixed his eyes a bit.

[link] is a pretty useful reference too, although it's really best to get actual photograph reference for things like this in my opinion (or there are always mirrors to!).

The nose is really nice. If you're going for more realistic though, it's probably a bit on the short and tiny side, but that depends on the level of realism to manga you want.

Don't draw the hair like an outline like that.. try to draw it in nice flowing pieces! The person who commented above has some good walkthroughs on how to do hair as well- it's part of the series she linked to.

Anyways, it's a really nice start, good luck!

Thank you that expressions sheet was very helpful, for deciding what I wanted to do. I really appreciate the help.

nice ^.^

you have a real knack for capturing things directly from view.

Expressions can be captured by either googling expression sheets, or getting an expression book (I have yet to buy one myself, but have used them before, and they help tremendously.), or by (doing what I wind up doing) and using a webcam to screenshot yourself doing expressions.
