Though I'm kinda pissed that they restricted Jon's abilities & made him a bit annoying to an extent. Gifted kids are quite intellegent for their own good. Why the hell would they constrict that notice?

It was part of the storyline.  The whole damn TOWN was filled with evil aliens who were suppressing his powers on purpose!
