Description 爱尔兰 (pinyin: Aìěrlán) Is the Chinese approximation of the English word Ireland (Éire). As an English speaking (and teaching) Irish native living in china, I felt it was appropriate. The characters were written on to my back by my one of my Chinese friends before being traced over with the tattoo needle, so it will also always remind me of the great people I met here.
The first character (爱- Aì) also means "love". Perhaps in this context it's my love of Ireland and my love of China. Then again 兰 (lán) means "orchid" or something so who fucking knows.
