Remember that awesome game, what's it name?
Well here's the rifle from that game. My take on it. Remastered.
Ufopedia Entry:
X-Com "Rifle"
Shot type: Safe, Single, Full-Auto.
This highly accurate "sniper-rifle" has laser guided sights and takes 6.7mm ammunition in 20 round clips.

Rate of fire: 700–950 r/m
Muzzle velocity: 3170 ft/sec
Feed system: 20 round box magazine.
This is the standard issued automatic-rifle handed to xcom operatives. it comes equipped with a holographic sight to engage targets at long range. The rifle is chambered to take 6.7mm ammunition in 20 round clips.
Note: Never saw this rifle as a "Sniper rifle". Diehard fan of x-com series. And yes, the new "Enemy Unknown" game stays true to the series. And no, that game released on xb360 with the name "xcom" is not a real x-com game.

yeah 'highly accurate' my ass....most x-com operatives HATED using it because even with the sights the gun was HORRIBLY miss-calibrated!

The Rifle. My mainstay Sniper weapon until i got the Laser Rifle. 110% modification upon accuracy of troops using it with aimed shot meant your designated snipers with AF of 65 and above enjoyed a solid 71+% accuracy when standing, and 78+% when kneeling. i guess "Sniper Rifle" is a distinction it has because of its good accuracy. its actually more accurate by the laser rifle and a boon to keep around for etherials. Pack those along with power suits and you have something that kills them, but does not even dent you if you get MC'd

Yeah i tried to look at it from diffrent angles, in the end i think they did the best thing. Change the title all together. They can play around in that universe and all that but it wasen't really worthy to have the name X-com in it.
I once had a discussion with a close friend of mine about the Bureau. And i told him something in the lines like this.
"Don't take me wrong, it's probably a great game and all. But for me it's not X-com. It tries but its not worthy to be called an x-com game (Still, it's better than X-com Enforcer, i'll give them that x). But if you take the game as it is, without comparing it to x-com at all. It's an okay game, i'd play it and i'd probably enjoy it too."
And thats my two cents. I'm not an *hardcore* x-com fan, as i love the new X-com as much as i loved the old ones. When it camed to that i told my friends like i felt. "The new x-com game is less complex compared to the older ones, but it aint lacking at all, it captures the "feels" of the game exacly as i remember it." And thats why i recommend them to play that game, they don't even have to play the old ones because they will probably get that same first expression of x-com as i did many many years ago.
Now Fallout, thats a diffrent story. Can't play Fallout 3/NV and call you an experienced wastelander without playing Fallout 1/2.

God this thing sucks. Your picture is great, but this rifle was absolute shit. Couldn't research laser weapons fast enough.
