"Colette, dear, can you please come down here?" Colettes mother called from the main floor.
"We have some things to talk about" Colettes father added.
"Sure, I'll be down in a minute!" Colette called back.

Colette ran down the stairs up to her parents, who sat her down on the couch. Stresk sat on Colettes lap, and Colette grew nervous. Was she in trouble? Was someone coming to visit? She grew more nervous just thinking of the possibilities.

"Wh-what is it?" Colette stuttered.
"Your not in trouble" Her father said.
"We just have some, well, news" Her mother said.

Colette was worried. 'News' they had said. What news? Where they moving to the village? No. That couldn't have been it. Maybe someone was coming to visit so they needed to clean up the house. No..mothers tone was...different..something was wrong.

"What is it?" Colette repeated.
"Well..." Her mother said, unable to finish her sentence.

Her father put an arm around his wife, trying to comfort her.

"We are sending you off..." Her father said.
"Off to where?" Colette asked.
"To a boarding school.." Her mother said, quickly turning into Colettes father, crying.
"What! Why?" Colette stood up.
"It's not your fault, we just think this will be easier.." Her father answered.

Colette ran up to her room, crying. Why did she have to leave? She loved living in the little cottage her family had built. Why were they sending her away? Did they not love her anymore? Did they want her out of there lives? Colette didn't know, but she started crying harder.

"Colette, dear?" Her mother knocked on the door.

Colette didn't answer or open the door.

"Colette, let me in" Her mother said.

Colette opened the door and sat back down on her bed, her mother walking in and sitting by her.

"Dear, you know we don't want to do this, right?" Her mother asked.

Colette didn't answer.

"It's for the best. These are hard times, and this is going to really help the family. I'm sure you'll like the school.." Her mother added.
"When am I leaving" Colette asked.
"Right..well..tomorrow.." Her mother said.

'Great. Now I have a day to pack for who knows how long? Thanks for the notice..mom' Colette thought.

"How am I getting there" Colette asked, still looking down.
"Um..griffin?" Her mother said.
"Can't I just run?!" Colette asked.
"You'll be hunted! I don't care how fast you are as a wolf or werewolf, your riding a griffin" Her mother said, pretty much ending the riding discussion.
"Fine. But I get to take Stresk" Colette said.
"Okay, get packing now" Her mother said, leaving the room.

Colette sighed and started packing clothes into her purple and gold suitcase. Once she was finished packing, she grabbed her wallet, a book, and some other things in a backpack for her to carry on her back. The backpack was purple and gold also. They were clearly her favorite colors. She put her things by the door for tomorrow, and fell asleep, only to wait for the morning.
