Ruby ran into her room slamming the door behind her. She opened her windows and took off her cape handing it on a coat hanger posistioned on her door. She plopped into her bed and put her face in her heads. She began to cry. That day she ended up killing someone. The person was innocent, mislead, but innocent. Never the less. If she hadn't done what she did, Oscar would have died, and she couldn't stand the thought of him disappearing from her life.
It had been around one year since Oscar had started training with Ruby, and living with team RNJR. They had become close, very close. Ruby liked to think of Oscar as her best friend, but in that near death situation some other feeling started to grow in her chest. Something terrifying. It felt like if she was to loose him she'd crumble into pieces, and loose herself, loose the most important thing in her life.
Ruby was soon snapped out of her thoughts when there was a knock on the door.
"Ruby?"
It was Oscar.
"Ruby please. Come out. Everyone is worried about you."
Ruby was still crying. She couldn't make out words.
"That's it I'm coming inside" Oscar opened the door and looked at Ruby. His heart felt like it was going to break at the sight of her crying so much. He sat on the bed, the bed slightly creaking when he did so. He grabbed Ruby's face out of her hands and looked her in her eyes, "Talk to me."
Ruby sniffled "I-I'm a monster."
Oscar brushed Ruby's hair out of her face, "No you're not."
"I killed someone we could have helped Oscar! It's all my fault" she buried her face in his chest, crying more, "Why don't you hate me-"
Oscar swooped Ruby into a hug, "shut up. Just shut up. I could never hate you, no matter what." he gently held her head for a few moments then pulled away from the hug awkwardly looking into her eyes once more. "Don't ever say anything like that again. No way would I hate you Ruby. You saved my life multiple times including this one. You had no other choice but to kill that person, they were stronger than both of us. You had to to save me. I would've died if you hadn't done what you had done, i wouldn't be alive to be here for you and on that point I wouldn't be here to tell you how much you mean to me."
Ruby looked up into his eyes her face reddening "w-what do you mean by that?" There it was again. That feeling.
Oscar held her chin up and leaned in closer, "I mean, I love you. You've made me fall for you and as of late Oz won't stop yelling in my head about confessing to you and I guess now is the perfect time"
"Is that what I was feeling all this time" Ruby asked mostly to herself.
"It depends" he kissed her, the kiss seeming to last for eternity, "What did that make you feel?"
Ruby's heart fluttered, she smiled at him and laughed slightly her tears coming back again, but these tears were different, happy tears? "I...I think I love you too." The words danced on her lips. It felt strange to say them, but she loved that strange feeling. It was a good kind of strange.
"I'm glad" he laughed a slight blush on his cheeks. He kissed her once more. "feel better?"
"Yeah"
"Then lets go back outside and let everyone know you are okay" he smiled and held her hand.
Ruby nodded and they both left the room holding each others hands.
They had a bright future ahead of them.
That is, if Qrow doesn't kill Oscar first.
