I've always been a fan of Dig Dug but I had no idea there were so many variations to the arcade version.

Yeah, I didn't know that there were 2 different Digdug games called "Digdug Arrangement"
The arcade version (from Namco Collection Vol.2) is the one here, the PSP Digdug Arrangement (from Namco Battle Collection) is the one were you fight boss Pooka and Boss Fygar, which you inflate them to a huge size before they burst. That may be my favorite one so far.

Same here, they had a version for the Xbox360 as well which I bought...as well as for IOS...which I bought.
I am waiting for the day when a new Dig Dug is announced again.
