I know what you mean about too heavy aquatint....I always overdo it myself.
However....with some patience and burnishing ......you will achieve some fantastic subtle tones and still retain and reveal again the crisp fresh drawing underneath.
Like your fresh style very much.... keep it up.

This piece was actually only the second etching that I even put aquatint on, so I hope that I have gotten better at it since then.

this is a lovely print, peacock feathers are dark and richly coloured so the aquatint's not so heavy knowing that. . . the feather patterns on the background would really pop w/a nice ink wash, a little blue, a little green

even though the aquatint was waaaayyy too dark. i was unfamiliar with the times for the new acid bath. =]

well, firstly i think this is way past 4th grade, lol.
and all i did was draw out a design on a copper plate with an etching needle by scratching into the surface, inked it, and printed.
