Description Wallpaper, inspired by lhs' wallpapers of his Beretta airsoft (I assume) gun. Of course, this is no airsoft gun. This is a Springfield Armory XD40 V10, my daily carry gun.

If you require a different resolution, let me know. See my gallery for other photos starring this model.

I love my XD40 Service. Unfortunately here in California the CCW laws are... not friendly to "average" citizens. This is my new wallpaper.

It's steadily changing all over the nation... maybe one day CA will be next.

Thanks for the comment!

Wow, old comment, and I missed it...

I don't think I still have the original (NOOOOOOO!) due to an HDD crash, but I find it looks pretty good un-stretched if you set your desktop background color to white. Blends in seemlessly.

Me? Beretta wallpaper? You must have me confused for someone else. I know ~lhs did a wallpaper sorta like this with an Airsoft Beretta. Here it is. [link]

To be honest, I would LOVE to take pictures like this, but I never have. How do you do it?

Son of a....

You're right. Not sure how I confused that. The wicked pixel-art guy and the dude with the airsoft photo... (Sigh) And the big edit begins...

Thanks! I took a sheet of gatorboard (Foam-cored, white paper covered stuff) outside into a the blinding sun. Took a picture, then used "select continous regions" in GIMP, which basically selected all of the white, added a little it of a fuzzy edge to the selection, and deleted all of the "white", so that I could then fill it with true white. Only problem I had is that the sun was too bright, which made the background too bright, which caused a loss of detail on the gun. Gyarrrrr....

Desert Eagles are awesome, but a 4lb gun would be terrible for carrying. Love the pic. I have the 3" model and love it. You have this in a higher resolution like 1600x1200 or 1920x1200?

I can certainly supply it in any resolution you'd prefer. Would you like the text set up differently?

It's great the way it is! I'd love to get one at 1920x1200. You can email it to me at ammonk@gmail.com. Thanks alot!

Damn. That's an incredible resolution. I'll do it when I get a moment today. I don't have that stencil font on this computer, so it may be a tad different.

Looks sweet man. I don't like the short barrels like that though. I prefer if the barrel was the same length or longer than the clip, but that's just my own tastes. Great shots man. All of them.

Ah, I just saw from your profile that you're in Canada. Welllll nevermind about the carry question.

OverkillTASF In reply to druidz [2005-09-08 13:14:09 +0000 UTC]

Well hell, it's a standard length (4") service model. I don't feel like trying to tote around the tactical (5") for concealed carry.

Do you carry, and if so, what do you carry?

Why the longer barrel preference?

But in any case, thanks for the comment.

I prefer the Desert Eagle. I like a longer barrel b/c it offers better accuracy in both: distance of bullet travel before existing the gun and the distance between the fixed sights is greater than 4" models therefore adding more accuracy when shooting.

Ya I'm in Canada, and only target shoot.

it's a weapon a piece of art? i can't believe it...

Think of it as equal parts art and science. It's a machine, but artfully crafted and functional.

If you had some understanding for what goes into the design of any given firearm, and the "intricate simplicity" involved in its construction, you might have some appreciation for this particular tool (which only becomes a weapon when used as one) as art. And if you could get past whatever irrational fear it is you have....

Firearms should certainly be respected, because they are without a doubt potentially dangerous in the wrong evil or negligent hands, but in the hands of a good person, firearms become a tool through which evil is stopped.

Do you have a problem with pictures of baseball bats, steak knives, cars, large bodies of water, steep cliffs, sharp rocks, potentially rabid animals, and broken glass?

Or is your disdain perhaps better directed towards people who actually PERFORM ill deeds, rather than some object which you perceive incorrectly as causing them?

Putting my personal opinion of the .40S&W aside, I'd have to say this is pretty good. I like the minimalist approch to it.

Carrying a .300wsm wouldn't fall under "practical" for my build.

And would you please elaborate on how a lawfully owned and responsibly used firearm is 'sad and horrible'?
