ME -- real me is a bit darker than my comic persona ( i tanned over the summer XD ) and my hair is much shorter..oh and gasp-- i have chin fuzz?? oh noez
~um.. my weapons?
yeah-- they're "Twin CD-Blades" - during combat they spin at high speeds and play music ( the swords are mounted on a sound system sword sheath *Quad-S *

So, you drew the lineart in one layer, then... colored in on the same layer? Or just selected the regions with the Wand tool and filled in a layer under it? That tutorial you showed me is awesome, but it doesn't go in specifics on layers. D:

yeah i know-- its a little vague..
okay-- first i drew the rough sketch of the pixel me keep in mind that i did everything wit the pencil tool except my portrait and background phoenix symbol
after i made the rough sketch-- i zoomed in-- and got ride of the unnecessary pixels ( try to keep your lines only one pixel thick-- except for areas that you want bold
then once you've done that to your satisfaction-- start filling in color on that same layer ( just the base colors tho'
determine where your light is ( mine was directly above and a little to the left )
then once you've got the base colors done-- add the darkest shades next
then the lighter ones ( these would be the inbetween shades--you can add these as you see fit-- but remember to keep it kinda simple )
then finally-- the highlights ( the lightest areas : ) )
then all thats left is making your fighter portrait-- making your name look cool in some random font, and drawing your symbol in the back-- thats it

Lol, I know the basics of shades in coloring JC. XD; I'm aiming at the layers: you said you did the base colors on the same layer as the lineart. You did the shades and highlights on the same layer as well? How'd you avoid coloring over the lineart? Magic Wand?
Also, how'd you color the black lineart to match the base colors? And did you do anti-aliasing? And the white border?

no anti-aliasing--- and the white border is just using the magic wand to select the outside lines and adding a "stroke* mine was one pixel wide

Oh, and how did you magic wand all of the black lineart? I mean, not all the pixels connect and touch each other. All I know is use that Color Select(?) option under the Select tab in Photoshop, but I'm wondering if there's another way because Elements doesn't have that option.

don't do the thin color covering the whole pixel picture till you finish it completely : D
