Description
I've recently finally started watching the Stargate shows (yes, I know, late, but hey, we don't all have time to sit in front of the TV for days on end! This piece is entirely free style, losely attached to the universe, no particular scene or event (I don't know the show that well yet), so please save your stones and expletitives!
Thank you once again to *TreeClimber for all the valuable input! Always good to have someone with Stargate knowledge around!

Background:
Pyramid: [link] by getye1 (stock.xchng)
Gate: [link] by Striker_72 (stock.xchng)
Starfield/planets/constellation by me.
Meshes: Stargate by David Gian-Cursio.
Composition: Created background by extending original Pyramid background. Blended in stars and planets. Modified pyramid and shading, fixed/blended sand, added second pyramid, added fog/sandstorm, added beam and lense flare. Stargate setup and lighting in LW, further post processing and blending in PS.
Stargate (incl. SG-1, Atlantis & Universe) and its characters are the property of Stargate (II) Productions, SCI FI Channel, Showtime/Viacom, MGM/UA, Double Secret Productions, and Gekko Productions.
Original size: 1800x2100
Total time approx. 14 hours on and off plus about ~15 minutes render time with 66 layers in PS (including update).
Update (Jan 2011): Several retouches that fixed things I wasn't happy with (e.g. snag in one of the pyramids), added increased "sandstorm", added missing chevrons to the Stargate, fixed planets and some issues with the "star constellation" etc. Also added some hue changes to make the overall look more "withered". -- Basically some cosmetic changes that were quite a thorn in my eye. Also changed the frame.

Overall
Vision
Originality
Technique
Impact
Ok, it is okay. Thoughts: The pyramids entrance and the stargate should like up, so you could make a straight line from the Stargate to the entrance of the pyraimid. Also, the pyrmaids should be centered more and maybe a smaller pyramid on both sides of the main one instead of just 1 smaller pyraimid on the left (my left).
Vision: Good idea, I like it. I am not sure of the message if there is one.
Orginality; Defiantly orginial.
Technique: Good technique.
Impact: Not much impact, it feels like it needs something else, but can`t think of anything to add to give it more of an impact.

Thank you for taking the time to write a critique.
You made some good points, however, based on the viewing angle a line up of the Stargate to the pyramid entrace is not possible. I worked on the pyramids using a photo as a base. I had another pyramid in there, but actually removed it, because it started feeling 'overcrowded'.
I found it more important to have the Stargate centered than the pyramids, besides having everything exactly center piece does eventually make it look artificial and 'setup'. I wanted this to be a as natural, weathered and ancient looking as possible.
Thanks anyway though; I've been working this over several times and I think any further work on it would just make it worse. Also, no, no message, just some generic Stargate based idea that popped into my head watching the show.

No offense here, but I think you meant to say, "should line up" and, "pyramids" and, "Definitely original."
The lineup point you made is a good one, but in the world of Stargate, it could just easily be excused that the sands have moved over time XD - even the original structures of Egypt (pyramids and Sphinx etc) have moved over time due to the shifting of Earth's plates ^_^
