"I told you she won't let me leave - she won't let anyone leave. Did you really think you could destroy this ship? She's defied space and time. She's been to a place you couldn't possibly imagine. And now... it is time to go back; hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse..." -- Dr. William WeirBased on the 1997 sci-fi-horror movie "Event Horizon ".

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

1. This is not really what happened in the movie, you realize that?
--- Yes, I do. It is my own interpretation and an image that I had in mind since I last watched the movie last year.

2. What you are showing here is not scientifically accurate! Nothing could survive undamaged that close to a black hole!
--- Of course it's not scientifically accurate. It's science fiction! I'm well aware. All effects are for dramatisation and emphasis on the sci-fi-horror element.

3. There was never any blood on the hull in the movie!
--- I know. Like I said, it's my own interpretation of several, combined exterior shots from the movie with some personal touch added.

Thank you! You can find it here . It's available for download, but you definitely need more than 6 GB RAM to actually load/render it. It's massive in terms of textures.

Spacebattles forum has a theory about this movie. They speculate that Event Horizon is the precursor to Warhammer40k.

The place where the ship went? The warp.

Always loved that theory. Love the movie just as much, hard to find good sci-fi horror.

That's an interesting theory. First time I've heard it, but why not? I'm generally not a fan of cross-overs, but then it's as good a theory as any. I'm actually glad for once, that they left it vague. Explaining horror movies takes away the edge. Some sci-fi franchises need explanation to make them believable, this movie certainly doesn't!

And yes, if I think sci-fi and horror the two terms that usually first come to my mind are "Event Horizon" and "Dead Space" (the game).

Yeah, I like that you added blood to the Hull, that makes it seem like it really did go though Hell.

overseer In reply to SpiderTrekfan616 [2014-09-21 05:43:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I am (it rarely happens) actually quite pleased with how close I managed to get with what I had in mind. Blood on the hull seemed to be the only way to get the point accross in an exterior shot. Given the fact that they kept calling the ship "alive" in the movie, it fits on two levels I guess. Thanks!
