Rhiannon from The Girls of St Gwen's (see p-l-richards.deviantart.com/ar… ) is now a famous Opera singer. She finds something odd happening in northern Nova Scotia.

Macbeth - not of course the play by Shakespeare, but the opera by Verdi based on it.
Alba Nuadh - a new country consisting of Cape Breton Island, Prince Edward Island, and the northern counties of mainland Nova Scotia. Capital: Baile Mor. Language: Gaidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) (In RL it is Antigonish that is Am Baile Mor, but it seemed better to transfer this name to Sydney)
Historical Note: Northern Nova Scotia & PEI were so heavily settled by refugees from the notoriou Highland Clearances that it is said at the end of the 19th century Gaelic was the third most widely spoken language in Canada (after English and French). But failure to obtain official recognition or use in education led to a rapid decline in 20th century, though there are people there today who still speak it.
