Sometimes I sketch a skeleton underneath using a horse skeleton ref but I don't think I did for this one I think this was just a case of "keep going till it looks right" with lots of refs & yea I used grey scale for this one or I might have used a brown scale I don't remember oops but I don't usually use a grey scale when I shade my normal stuff cos it's harder to get characters colours right with them.
