Description It'd be a cool gimmick for a documentary to present its' 'footage' via the use of time-machine enabled night cameras and such.
Generic Scolopendra-like centipede predating upon newly hatched Apatosaurus.
Not finished per say but been working on and off this for so long that it's time to move onto something new.

I don't mean to intrude but a centipede that size sounds scary as fuck. Sri Lankan villagers say that there are gigantic centipedes in the crowns of our palmyrah trees...and they are and you can guess what happens.....

At first I thought it's a giant bug

Haha it really does look like that! Maybe I should've added some more terrain stuff for scale?Β

creepy and impressive because of how plausible it is. centipedes have always creeped me out and Bill Watterson certainly thought so too. Β

Calvin- "Hey Hobbes, i'll give you 20 questions to guess what's in my hands."Β
Hobbes- "Okay. Is it loathsome?"Β
Calvin- "Yes!"Β
Hobbes- "Is it some big centipede with poison pinchers?"Β
Calvin- "Centipedes have poison pinchers?"Β
Hobbes- "i think so, yes."Β
Calvin- "Man, it's a good thing you guessed it so fast!"Β
Hobbes- "With you, it's never too difficult."

Yup - centipedes are pretty creepy but also beautiful animals - I love the way they're 'constructed'. Love Calvin and Hobbs!Β

Centipedes are indeed quite beautiful, with the way they fluidly crawl around, almost gliding across any kind of terrain with ease. And then bursting into action when ambushing their prey XD

yeah. they are quite fluid-looking. i used the giant centipedes as reference when i created this dragon: saberrex.deviantart.com/art/Ce…

Words cannot describe the epicness of centipedes killing dinosaurs. It looks like something from a monster movie, but it's totally plausible! It's awesome!

AND OH MY GOSH DID YOU PUT FEATHERS ON THE BABY APATOSAURUS?!!? YAAAAAY!!!

*calms down*

Great picture. I love the little effects- the date in the corner, the static line, and the way the tapetum lucidum shines in the Apatosaurus.

The fun things is large centipedes today can kill bats, snakes, and frogs, so a small theropod isn’t out of the question.

I know! I love the idea of big dinosaurs engaging in the ecosystem in often non-represent ways?? I mean they must've been tasty snacks for frogs, snapping turtles, birds etc Guess a centipede is taking it to the extreme hahaΒ

Feathers on little sauropods increase the cuteness by at least twice! I'm glad you noticed them!Β

Thanks for this lovely comment!
