Fading everything to black and blue

Since the weather refuses to lighten up, I am forced to produce a sombre-toned photograph. I hate the winter, just look at that dark veil of cloud...
I know I recently did an umbrella piece, and I know umbrellas are ridiculously over-used in conceptual photography. There is a reason for that though; umbrellas are awesome. There should be a stamp in support of umbrellas... (someone make one!)
Anyway, this is my brother modeling for me once again, as I apparently have no friends.
Photoshop for levels, channel mixing, dodging/burning, noise reduction and cropping.

Yes, umbrellas are overused, last summer I used four different ones in a month (I broke three of them...)

A comment? Hmm...it's hard to explain why I love this photo. I think the very presence of an umbrella gives it immediate kudos, but I love the image; of freedom, unrestrained...or of falling; making an attempt at futile resistance but ultimately overwhelmed. Either way, its not held down...and that gives me a kind of happiness.
I've seen this idea used before, but this is much more convincing than most. I love your gallery :]

I think photoshop is photomanipulation but think you use it just for the effect of the colors and write it under your submissions and thats okay =]
