Beautiful!
Quick question, though: I recognize that Rust is wearing the Yellow Sign, but what are the symbols present on Martin? For some reason the one one his right reminds me of Yog-Sothoth and the one on his chest reminds me of Hastur (not August Derleth's tentacle-misfit, but Ambrose Bierce's version which is the god of shepards). If 'True Detective' is following Bierce's interpretation of Hastur as a shepard god, then that would explain the antlers everywhere and might mean that he and the yellow king are either enemies or yin-and-yang oppositional aspects.

In the book 'The King in Yellow' that inspired True Detective, Hastur and the King in Yellow are two characters, Hastur being a character created by an earlier writer named Ambrose Bierce that Robert W. Chambers, the author of 'The King in Yellow', appropriated for his stories. Some people assume that Hastur and the King in Yellow are the same being, but after reading the book I don't think this is the case. The King in Yellow is a surreal being that lives in another dimension with black stars and impossible physics (if he in fact exists and isn't just a delusion of madness), whereas Hastur seems to be a nature deity that acts as a protector to certain indviduals and is associated with various animals. Hastur is also associated with stars, which makes me wonder if his true form is in fact that of a star.
So what I took from your art is that Rust is closer to the King in Yellow due to his views, and Marty is closer to Hastur. However, despite the serial killer, neither being can be easily understood in terms of good and evil, but they are different from each other. The King in Yellow is about art leading us to greater, perhaps maddening, truth that exists beyond ordinary logic and "the real", and Hastur is a lost god who is found in the natural world and attempts to shepard humanity in ways incomprehensible to us.

it's really make sense)
And in episode five creators try to confuse watchers and make thinking that Rust is the Yellow king.
Maybe i deep plunged in this show in january 2014 and did this without sense. But you found it.
Well done

Yay~! I agree that your art is very intuitive. You picked up on some things that aren't easily explained in words.
I don't get the feeling that the Yellow King is inherently evil. He's just associated with creativity, madness, and art. But people who read the King in Yellow's play usually end up bonkers from the "truths" it reveals, like our serial killer "friend". There is one scene where a book titled 'The King in Yellow' is left on a desk the serial killer used, confirming that he read the play. However, Rust himself is able to stare into the darkness and accept its truths without losing his mind, and by the series's end is able to find his own meaning despite everything. It's not clear that he's read the play, but regardless he believes in abstract, unpleasant ideas. On the other hand, Marty has faith that there is a God that is looking after him, even if he doesn't understand why God allows for evil, and he trusts what he sees and experiences, which makes him closer to "nature".
Sorry I didn't mean to confuse you before. I was just mentioning writers that have used both Hastur and the King in Yellow in their stories and other non-human characters they wrote about. It's interesting that since the 1800s these characters have been passed down and written about by so many different people with their own interpretations of them, and now the writers of 'True Detective' are continuing the mythology.
Now that I'm looking at Marty again, the symbol on his right shoulder looks both like a star and the white vortex Rust sees in his vision at the end of the series. When I first saw that scene, I assumed that it was some sort of portal to Carcosa, but now I'm starting to think it might have been a vision of Hastur, because it is implied in some stories that Hastur is a star himself and in Rust's vision the stars are normal (not black).
The part I still don't understand is what the King in Yellow and Hastur have to do with each other. Some people say they are the same being, but they don't seem to have any similarities. Hastur is associated with real stars of different colours, and also with nature, animals, and shepards. He seems to protect and shepard humans (notably in one story he appears as a humble servant, very unlike a king), but his ways are mysterious so we can't be sure that he's good. He is a character in the play, but he also appears in other stories to people who've never read the play. On the other hand the King Yellow is associated with black stars, lives in a surreal place called "Carcosa" which is completely unnatural, and might not even really exist except as a character in the play. I can't begin to imagine how Hastur and the King in Yellow relate. ?:/
The thing that confuses me even more is that the killer puts antlers on the heads of his victims. I don't know of any stories in which Hastur is associated with deer in particular, but Hastur is associated with animals. Is the show attempting to show how the beings are connected? On the other hand, the killer kills people and animals in order to create "art", so maybe that's meant to show how the King in Yellow is against nature?

I think it's pretty damn good. If I DID have to critique, I can kind of see why you think Martin didn't turn out as good (although nothing immediately stands out as flawed). I think it might be his jawline, but honestly it's so slight I can't put my finger on it. Overall, it's pretty awesome to see such amazing artwork for what has become one of my favorite shows.

Oops. Didn't see this one! I don't see any problems with Martin immediately, but something tells me if you want to "correct" anything, you have what it takes.
