Vision:
This is a wonderful portrait of an already majestic animal. The focus on his eye only bring out more this creature's mystery and wisdom.
Originality:
This is a wonderful shot of a Great Grey Owl. You don't always see the 3/4 view of an owl's face. The full-face view is more typical.
Technique:
The shallow depth of field here is perfect. The focus is right on his beak and eye, and everything else is just enough out of focus that we don't notice, and our eye stays where it should. The amount of detail is superb, though not overwhelming, the colors are bright. I can't think of any way how this photograph could be made better!
Impact:
This is a wonderful photograph, which makes a great impact, because the first thing you say even just by seeing the thumbnail is "wow." This is truly a fitting and gorgeous capture of such a magnificent owl.
