I love the amount of hate Gears of War gets, because it really illustrates how many people think it's cool to hate something popular. I think a Zelda game made by Epic would have the best of both worlds--the vast, adventurous, fantasy feel of Zelda, with the intense and engaging combat and unintentionally hilarious dialogue of Gears.

if Epic made Zelda it would be shallowly written, linear, action focused and insanely easy, in short, if Nintendo goes under and has to sell it's IPs Epic is one of the Last places Zelda should go.
now, i can think of a few western developers who could do a pretty good job, developers like Naughty Dog and Rocksteady come to mind

Bethesda does straight up RPGs, not a bad idea for a Zelda game, but i was thinking those developers would work best to move the series forward while still keeping it an action adventure game at heart
also i've never seen Bethesda do very good puzzle or platforming gameplay which Rocksteady and Naughty Dog both proved they could pull off very well

thats true, you dont see very many puzzles of any types in their games
i dont think an individual developer could do, it would need to be a collab

I think there's a lot of negativity surrounding American developers as only being able to conjure up things like GoW. I think that given a specific property, they could maintain and enhance the overall experience, and maybe add in some features that European/Asian developers may not have thought of. (Retro Studios...) And I believe this works both ways.
But that's just my opinion.

It's just that reading a few of the comments, and the general perception of American studios being relegated to creating 'overly masculine' games in the last decade kinda bums me out. But it's all good.
