This was the view from the top of Holy Hill in Wisconsin. This was the first time in 5 years I have been back on the mainland for Fall. It's still probably a few days early for the best colors but it's my last day here. The weather has been a bit strange this year and it's been pretty warm up until the last few days.At first it wasn't looking like it was going to be a great day, it was pretty overcast, but Nate [link] isn't the only one who gets lucky. I got lucky for a change and the sun poked through the clouds just as i got to the top of the tower.

I knew this was taken from Holy Hill the moment I saw the thumbnail! That's where I go to church every Sunday!

I'm going to visit this place on Friday. Wisconsin is my state, I live in Madison, and while I'd heard of this place, I didn't know much as I'm not catholic nor had I seen any pictures. I'm now enthralled with the place and will spend many a day photographing the basilica and the grounds.

This is an awesome picture by the way. I would suggest cropping out the very top band of distant field behind the treeline, the scene would feel much more like you're inside the environment, instead of on top of it.

Hey thanks a lot for the comment. I thought about cropping out the top, but I dont like cropping my photos very often. You're right though, i probably whould have just left out the top when I took the photo.
This was the first time I was their as well. Im not catholic either, but thought it would be a nice place to photograph. Its pretty easy to get to as well, th eonly thing that kind of restricts you are the bars in front of the windows. I just set up my tripod and managed to fit my lens between the bars to get this shot.

Thanks a lot, its goign pretty well, Just getting ready to get back out to Hawaii for a bit. Can't wait to get diving again and start shooting underwater. Hopefully ill post a bit more often in the next couple of weeks.
