also the tank is very deep. about 100 feet in diameter so there isnt much but open water right behind these guys.... nothing for the flash to bounce off of...

no, they are taken durring the day, but they are obiously underwater which means there isnt as much light. so i use a flash and high shutter speed, it cancles out most of the background, however because the glass im shooting through is somewhat scratched and foggy i do actually color over the background to make it a more solid black instead of looking all scratched up.
