I like the "retro" colours (even his jeans look retro) but I think you're not doing justice to the beauty of his face - the pic on the right shows his face in the shadows (intentionally?).

The colours are very reminicent of those 60's and 70's photos of men on the beach ... you have captured that same quality as well, with composition, and the choice of model.
