Behold, another pic! This is result of some creative brainstorming with my my buddy batscoundrel ! He wanted a happy fat princess and I felt like drawing a bug, and this is what happened, the cutest little snugglebug there ever was <3<3<3. I had lots of fun both in the initial sketch, and playing around with some super adorable color schemes. I loooove how her eyes and scythes came out. The eyes feel really deep and have that sparkly deep space look to them but you can still see the pupils. And The scythes have that cute glossy look almost like they're made out of some brightly colored plastic, which is exactly the look I was going for. <3

This is Princess Mindy of the Kiwikians, a race of bug aliens from the moons of the gas giant Kiwikaiya. She is a very kind and smart young woman who takes her duties as princess very seriously.(her full name is unpronouncable by humans, but mindy is a nickname consisting of the easiest to pronounce syllables of her name) As princess she is the public face of the royalty on Kiwikaiya, in contrast to her mother the queen whom is kept busy with behind the scenes affairs and rarely addresses the public. Each of the moons is ruled by regional governor, and every moon has two elected officials that sit on the grand council. The grand council is then the infrastructure body which maintains a majority of government functions and offers council to the queen and royal family, although in the end the queen has final say on policy and veto power.

Although she is a confident princess and faces the challenges of her duties with grace and determination, she is unusually flustered by compliments, due to a peculiarity of Kiwikian culture. In Kiwikian culture one is not allowed to compliment anyone who is considered a superior or elder. Naturally as a princess mindy is not allowed to receive compliments from anyone except her mother the queen, and a few high ranking individuals such as regional governors or grand council members. So when someone such as a friendly but culturally ignorant human meets her (wink wink) and offers a normally polite compliment; she becomes very flustered because she is simultaneously flattered because she is almost never complimented and has lackluster self esteem, and she recognizes their good intentions and doesn't want them to feel ignorant, but she is also embarrassed by the massive social faux pas of complimenting ROYALTY of all things. As one may expect, the Kiwikians' rules regarding compliments means they often come off as rude or arrogant to other species, because they constantly critique and criticize everyone. However it also important to note that when a Kiwikian DOES offer a compliment it is always with much forethought and consideration, and is very sincere and heartfelt.

The reason for Kiwikians' peculiar behavior when it comes to compliments has its roots in their history. Long ago the Kiwikian race was unified under a single militant socialist government, and they waged an ambitious war to unify their neighborhood of the galaxy under one banner. However the government was authoritarian and questioning or criticizing the government or its policies was harshly punished. As the war raged on, glaring deficiencies in infrastructure, military policies, and wealth distribution plans slowly choked the citizenry and strangled the nation's future from the inside out. Eventually the empire collapsed and it took the Kiwikians over two hundred years to recover economically and culturally. As part of the reaction against the woes of unchecked authority, Kiwikian culture developed its rather unusual social quirks. It is considered socially unnacceptable to compliment one's superiors, and instead it is expected that a subordinate will offer a piece of critique or criticism to their superiors when a compliment would be appropriate in any other culture. Another related aspect of Kiwikian culture is their socially stratifying honorifics, similar to japanese cultural norms involving honorifics differentiating people based upon age or experience such as chan/san/sama. Kiwikian culture also has a long list of honorifics based upon one's social position relative to the speaker, although most of them are unpronounceable by humans due to the Kiwikians buzzing, humming, clicking language. And that's a brief overview of how Kiwikian culture developed its unique social rules regarding compliments and criticism.
