Gizmo checking out who the new visitor is yesterday taken with XF zoom lens (just lazy).

Had to stop writing, because now he as at tha back door again today, using his paws on the glass to let him in, from where i am sitting in the livingroom i cann't see the back door since it is an L shaped room, devided in sitting and dining room.

Al other visitor cats when they hear the muffeld sound on the rear door, get up and go to the back door to have a look, Gizmo is the only one of the visitor cats that uses the furniture to stay in the living room and takes a higher stand in order to see who's there, then turns his head towards me and give a loud voice miauw in order to say to me "we" got visitors !

Here he is using the seat and SONY loudspeaker box.

Perhaps confusing for the regular DA visitors i would use Sony loudspeakers on a high end KT88 Tube amp ?

Well it is commisioned by and branded as a SS2070 by Sony ! truth is that although it is marked as a Sony it has never seen Japan.

In the 70ties Sony struggeld in selling loudspeakers in europe, they didn't have the clarity, detailing, soundstage of the eurpean britisch and german counterparts.

So they turned to SEAS Norway, to have a high quality 3 way speaker system designed that could compete, under the name Sony.

SEAS Norway ("The art of sound perfection" = www.seas.no/ ) was established in the end of the 1920, and produced only loose drivers (loudspeakers units) and no complete loudspeakers with enclosures (cabinets).

This commision by Sony for the SS2070 speakers were designed By SEAS, consisting of a 3 way sytem with top of the line drive units and Crossover from SEAS, Tweeter is a 1" coated fabric dome , a 4" mid, and a 10" woofer.

The layout and drivers is in fact the same as their 3 way SEAS professional sound DIY kit 303, with the crossover point at 800Hz and 4000Hz, with massive wooden cabinets from Denmark, and assembled in West-Germany.

The SS 2070 has a very nice flat frequency response with an effectivity of 91dB (1 watt at 1 meter), but for a "japanese" designed and made in europe speaker they were not cheap, and were only sold for about 2 years only.

Seas drivers can be found in some high end speaker systems of B&o , Dynaco, Scan Dyna, Telefunken and so on,

As a reference , in modern times in the excelent classic british Harbeth M40.2, a 3 way BBC monitor speakers for domestic use, which has as top of the line 25mm silk dome SEAS tweeter to complete the top end of the frequentie range . (Harbeth M40.2 = 17.850,- euro a pair).

Crossovers of the ss2070 have been recapped with Audyn intertechnik Cap Plus capacitors , and Jantzen Audio Crosscap.

Its a "Sony" speaker from the 70ties that is well worth having a KT88 high-end tube amplifier powering it !
