Description Created in Photoshop CS5 using a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet.

This is me experimenting with adding a colour layer on top of an original black and white version:

think it came out ok, but i'm not sure i'm a fan of the technique. apparently a lot of pros work this way to simplify and speed up their work.

I'm with you on this one; I prefer to colour and shade my work from the get-go, rather than produce monochrome artwork and add a layer of flat colour later.

i can see how it saves time in some cases, and avoids the artist really having to understand some basics about colour whilst getting decent results.
feels unnatural to me, so i don't see me sticking with it. but it's always worth giving other techniques a try!
