Aside from the color it's also why they named them Tomato frogs...they really do look like a ripe tomato!

OMG is that for real?!
Perfect angle for maximum cuteness (or maybe they're that cute from all angles? )

They definitely are a cute and beautiful species. Tho, like their distant relative the horned frogs, a lot of people don't keep them b/c they spend most of their time buried in soil. They are ambush hunters...they wait for their prey to come to them. But I simply love these guys and the horned frogs.

Weird that their color is so bright if they're supposed to be stealth frogs! (Not that I'm complaining, tho... soooo cute! )

The do release a toxin from their skin if they feel threatened. Kind of like a toad does. I think it's one reason why they are this color...it's a warning to predators that they taste bad.

Oh god MANY! I think I'm around 20+ at the moment. There are still ones I haven't been able to get good shots of yet to post. Them and my snakes (I know I have 24 snakes right now) take up the bulk of my herp family.

It was nice once my husband and I got our own place. Yeah I was able to have herps when we where living with my mom but there wasn't the space for me to really have an many as I do now. They have their own room now...aside from the computer and a desk for it. But Daytona (the Hermann's tortoise) and Spice (the Axolotl) are in the bed room.

Oh that is really cool. That are a cool frog species...cute and I just love their color. As for a mousepad...I'm using one I got from joining the fan club of my NASCAR driver. Herptiles, fast cars and cross stitching are three of m fav things.
