Description "Ec-what?" Tamiko inquired confused.

"Ecrians, is what we call them." Emare whispered, "And you'd be wise to stay away from them."

----

A painting I did of my oc Kyan, from a comic I hope to continue soon. I think I'm slowly improving with painting.

Excellent work!  I'm loving the contrast of the warm and cool colors of Kyan, and the ember-like effects in the foreground and background.  Great job on the face too!  I have tried digitally painting my characters before, and I'm always stumped by how to make them look more 3D and bring out their facial contours, but you did this really well!  Kyan looks like an interesting character--I hope to learn more about him in your comic!

Thank you so much! It means a lot

It is hard, and I still have SO much to learn tbh. What I do is look up a black and white reference (or take my own of someone) and use that to help me with the planes of the faces, it takes a lot of practice on how light affects the face and I overthink it so much. But thank you, I'm glad to hear it's working out, even a little bit lol

You are most welcome!

Oh!  That's a really good idea!  Sounds a lot easier than trying to color-match a picture and getting lost in the various tones of the shadows

I find it easier and then you can overlay color too then start painting with color after that. Trying to keep track of values AND hues can be difficult lol.
