"The first gundam"

This is my tribute to the gundam series that is terribly overdue. I was browsing through my gallery and I saw a very old 3D work that I've completely forgotten to finish ([link] ). This turned out to be my christmas project.

This pose (although from another angle) was taken from a master grade model kit of RX-78-2 gundam. I loved how the beam saber stretched from the back, so i decided to make it in 3D. I enjoyed making this because it is just like assembling a model kit... only it takes a lot of days. I might make some more of these.

Everything is rendered in mental ray in Maya 6.5. The earth background is a photo from - [link] -- sorry i had to borrow your picture.

I'll be posting other views of this gundam in some other time. Enjoy!
