8 hours of workThere is in fact a story behind why they look different from their original forms, and let me explain it.
After the Flame was blown out, in my mind there was two of them, one as the main cause and the second as a back-up, as you know a just in case something happened to the first one, well after a decade they decided to re-experiment with the flame, but instead of putting it in Elise they put it in a Shadow android and programmed it to protect Soleanna (sp?). Mephiles on the other hand once again came out of Shadow's shadow (That part made me laugh xD) though it was the android's Shadow so after tampering with the looks a bit to make them their own? They look like this. Mephiles was exiled from Soleanna so he couldn't re-unite with his brother Iblis.

Finally someone did iblis correct ! ( i looked up iblis as a mobian the other day and i mostly see pictures of him as a freakin girl ! ) i like how you did mephiles's bang . I also like how you made them brothers. ( cause the half thing was driving me crazy )

I love both Iblis and Mephiles!
Well, I think that after the Flame of Hope was blown out and Solaris was defeated by Super Sonic, Shadow and Silver, the parts of Solaris (Mephiles and Iblis) were destined to sink away into the depths of Oblivion (the world of things that never existed for good or something like that. Kind of a realm of darkness where the banished memories go. You get the point). There, Mephiles and Iblis would reunite with each other, but they could never become something that happened anymore (escape from Oblivion). However, because Solaris is a transcendental being that transcends time, he is one and the same being in all timelines and even before and after the timelines, simply eternal and never-ending, and he's immortal and omnipotent, there was no way to truly destroy him even when the flame was blown out. Because the flame would be nothing more than simply Solaris' form, body, soul and consciousness and even when it is destroyed, Solaris would always live on because he's immortal and omnipotent and transcends all (well, this sounds kinda psychic). That way, Mephiles and Iblis would be able to ''become something that happened'' again.
And when that happened, Mephiles and Iblis would be together at last.
If that really happened, there's hope that Mephiles and Iblis will return in Sonic Generations! I hope Mephiles will be in that game!!!
