I had a nice walk to nearby islands today with my wife and our younger daughter here in Helsinki. I took this photo on our way from "Lammassaari" island to "Kuusiluoto" island. The name "Kuusiluoto" means "Spruce islet", but there's only one spruce on the whole island among all the pines, willows and birches. What a strange choice for a name, don't you think? Just like the name "Lammassaari", which means "Sheep island", but there are no sheep. All the sheep are in "Kuusiluoto". And there are more spruces in "Lammassaari", so why not just switch the names? (There are sheep roaming free every summer in Kuusiluoto and you can go there and pet them and take photos of them. I didn't get a good photo of them this time...).

On our way home we saw a Barnacle goose that was tangled in a loose fishing line, struggling to get free. My wife and I managed to hold the bird still and release its trapped wing, so the poor goose got finally free and ran to the water. I got some blood on my hands, but luckily it wasn't the lure with a hook, but the fishing line that cut the bird's wing, so we hope that the cut will eventually heal. Then we picked up the loose 10 meter long fishing line and the lure to a plastic bag and put it in a garbage can.
