Description Lesser Abyssal Worm, also known as the Minor Abyssal Worm by some, though that's minor in the sense that while it might prey on Dragons from time to time its Greater Cousin prefers to feast on cities. XD They range in sizes estimated to be well over three to seven miles in length, that's estimated because no one has ever seen an Abyssal Worm completely exit the earth and live to tell the tale.

Abyssal Worms live impossibly deep beneath the earth and for the most part (much to the relief of other life forms) live an unknown existence. They (thankfully) have no known natural predators, and prefer to feed on raw ores normally beyond the reach of mining colonies. They are highly resistant to the "Geist Effect" and most high level spells. On extremely rare occasion an Abyssal Worm might rise to the surface in search of nutrient ores that it's lacking in its diet. Only a handful of written accounts exist pertaining to these enormous titans and what does exist warns that their destructive power is legendary. For them the whole of the world is their territory and they will aggressively attack any intruders.

Abyssal worms have six snail like eye stalks that are capable of viewing all known spectrums of light to include phantasmal energies. They can easily distinguish other life forms within their vicinity despite their comparatively small size (like gnats to them). They detect and sort out nutrient ores within the earth by blasting the surrounding area with a massive electronic discharge that's more than capable of stunning a fish bear for a whopping 3 seconds. The discharge is directed by the four whip like tentacles atop their head that are actually a direct extension of their
brain matter.

The Abyssal Worm is covered by heavily armored plates that are believed to be stronger than Space Titanium. Hidden beneath each plate are three to ten retractable venomous barbs that can easily pierce even the thickest Dragon scales. They also aid in their forward locomotion by helping to anchor the beast intense bodies that help to prevent them from slipping about, backwards movement can be a tad awkward though. The four clawed feet like appendages are actually strictly used for balance, especially in situations were they decide extend the upper third of their bodies straight up into the sky. The countless tendril like feet that line the full length of their bellies are their primary tools used in forward movement allowing them to reach speeds well over seventy miles per hour through solid stone.

The front most one percent of these worm's bodies are uniquely designed in such a way that they can completely tuck their heads beneath their necks armor plating. When shielded in this manner their head literally becomes an armored spiked club that can be used to rip open the tallest of mountains. This maneuver is rarely used for attack or defense against other living creatures as no other creature besides their "Greater Cousins" could ever hope to be a proper threat to them.

Nothing is known about these creatures' abilities to reproduce and it has been postulated that these titans actually have no need of reproduction; that they were actually engineered aboard the original seven pioneering ships that brought life to Terra. It might very well be that these creatures were never intended to live for as amazing a span as they have and that their original purpose was in aiding mankind in the early stages of terraforming the planet.

If these great beast have a limited lifespan then its length is unknown to mortal man. No corpses have ever been recovered of these creatures much to the relief of the Paladins, as only God knows what the Necromancers would attempt should they succeed in retrieving the corpse of such a monster. Direct encounters with these creatures by man will most assuredly result in death. The only person to ever record a close encounter with these magnificent beast did so after their own death. The person in question was "Morbis Venu" , who sustained permanent lethal damage just before ascending to the rank of Lich.

Thanks alot!!!

You'd be surprised how hard it is to come up with an original looking worm creature... most the best ideas have been taken already.

(Dune, Beetlejuice, Starwars, Tremors, Final Fantasy, Godzilla: The Series, D&D... ect)

So I decided to try referencing several variations of deep sea worm.

Those are truly some fascinating creatures. and turned out to be just what I needed. -^_^-

The key I think is thinking of any monster as a true animal. Learn what your monster needs to be happy. What food it likes, its preferred environment, what does it hunt with, are there things it hates, does it have any weaknesses, how do humans react in its presence. ^_^

I believe thats what Harryhauson used to do... his best monster were animals first monsters second.

Your work is off to a good start just don't get discouraged and practice every day for at least a few hours. ^_~ There are those who have the talent to create brilliance without even trying... then the rest of us, the ones who gotta work our tails off to raise up to meet them head on. XD
