Description Here you see two of the largest Dinosaurs from Hell creek, The exactly three horned wonder, and the King of the king lizards.(I didn't name them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)  The chart may appear to be based on The Truth About Killer Dinosaurs documentary, however it is not. (if I were to make a chart like that it would include birds as well as Bill Oddie).

I don't have much to say on these two, both are very well known. All the trivia I can really provide is the color inspirations. (which are specific to my reconstructions)
Triceratops: No particular inspiration for it's colors. It does have little bumps on parts of it's keratin coated frill though.(inspired by the bumps on the bases of deer antlers)
Tyrannosaurus: Colors inspired by American Aligators, some brown bears, and a Swanson's Hawk.

Why doesn't anyone use Triceratops Horridus that often anymore? I grew up with it.

Evodolka In reply to Paleop [2018-04-12 20:58:53 +0000 UTC]

that is probably the most likely reason
also isn't Prorsus a bit larger than Horridus? because that could be a small reason why too

I'm always kind of confused because in different size charts T.rex is always a different size(I'm not talking about outdated or awsomebro charts though).

To be fair, a king is not always a tyrant and a tyrant is not always a king

Paleop In reply to Fireplume [2017-01-24 14:15:08 +0000 UTC]

I do think the alternate translation of it's name fits it better, it is the king of the king lizards (tyrannosaurs)
.....and now that I think of it, both translations apply just as much.

Fireplume In reply to Paleop [2017-01-24 14:17:44 +0000 UTC]

"Tyranno" directly means Tyrant though...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Paleop In reply to Fireplume [2017-01-24 19:27:12 +0000 UTC]

"The phrase meaning "tyrant lizard", from the Ancient Greek tyrannos (τύραννος), "tyrant", and sauros (σαῦρος), "lizard" is misleading, if not plainly wrong. "Tyrannos" did not mean "Tyrant" but "King", as can be seen in the Tyrant article from Wikipedia. If you follow the reference mark for the binomial name of the saurus, it is discussed the "rex" part using "Oedipus Rex" ("Oedipus the King") when the original title was "Οἰδίπους Τύραννος" (Oidipous Tyrannos), and was translated both to Latin and to English as "King", not "Tyrant". Furthermore, Osborn, who named T. Rex, only wrote I propose to make this animal the type of the new genus Tyrannosaurus, in reference to its size, which greatly exceeds that of any carnivorous land animal hitherto described, which clearly points to the hierarchy of the animal due to its size, and not to its illegitimacy as a ruler."en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Tyr…
just so you know my source read beyond the first sentence.
