Description
This is the concept I have in mind for my rex model.note the legs are not in an actual standing pose, they are just posed for modeling. (if I get any comments on that, I will assume you didn't read this, and I will Shame accordingly
I blended the tail feathers into the tail and torso accordingly. (something Saurian hasn't done)
Colors are based off of Swainson's hawk, American Black Bear, and American Alligator.
I would like to thank for his help and advice on anatomy!

Nice combination of elements for the animal's coloration.

I kinda like the meaty face. Especially if you're using the more robust morph.

I love the stripes on the scaly parts! Very natural-looking design that gives you the real living creature vibe. I adore the use of colors especially, and how you managed to slide some nice detail into the markings in each part of its body, and still kept it looking well-balanced and harmonious. This is an interesting Rex to look at, without feeling neither gimmicky nor boring. Amazing job!

huh. I personally think the stripes are what take away the realism of this design.

Explain how tho?
Like, lots of large terrestial carnivores from various groups of animals have striped tails...

I don't know. It's just... to bright compared to the rest of the animal.

If anything you got going for this is that this is by far the most up to date, badass and who knows maybe most accurate Rex I have seen in 2017!!!

Don't the legs look a little disproportionate to the body?

they are accurate. it's just the pose

Really??? Shit man, my mind's just been blown. I always thought the T-Rex's had bigger feet and legs

The pose makes a big diference

If the legs were in a more natural pose the shin would likely be streighter making the creature as a whole look taller

"note the legs are not in an actual standing pose"
Sure about that? This is a perfectly good standing pose

The femur is rotated too far back, causing the metatarsals to be at a weird angle.
The posture suggests that the animal will be kissing dirt in a second.

Yeah a 3d model would show that the balance in that pose isnt very stable, despite the muscular and dense tail

To be fair you are used to seeing the bones through the flesh on your reconstructions

this is really cool, but I would have refrained from making the lips almost completely covering the teeth. the longest teeth would have probably stuck out from the lips a bit. the snout was also just a bit longer than what you've shown here. other than that, great work!

Maybe the snout looks short because of how large the lips are.

1. when closed or open?
2. was it? Sue's skull is in pretty bad shape tbh

1.both
2. both stanley's and sue's skulls look kind of longer that what was depicted, then again I have very poor visual judgement.

a lot of the skull is buried in the flesh in all honesty XD
