Description Updated 16 10 2019
Dimorphodon.
Meaning of name: Two types of teeth.
Species: D. macronyx.
Classification: ‬Pterosauria, ‭ ‬Dimorphodontidae, ‭ ‬Dimorphodontinae.
‬Time period: Hattengian to Sinemurian stages of the Early Jurassic.
Distribution: Southern England.
Wingspan: 1.4m.
Lifestyle: Insectivore.
Background is photo of River Exe Estuary, South West England plus a Scelidosaurus.

Because I read that there is no evidence of crests on Dimorphodontidae & that it is common on birds with deep beaks to use them for display, they suggested that Dimorphodon may have been similar. I have attempted to recreate this with brightly coloured reptilian fenestra.

Modern animals don't have such obvious impressions of their skulls, so why should he?

You are right about the fenestra under the fur that shouldn’t be visible, I will change it but extant animals can only be a rough indicator, the first tetrapod’s didn’t look like a frog, volant animals today don’t have the vast bony jaws of a pterosaur, in fact the longest jaws of any terrestrial animal probably belonged to a pterosaur (Witton)

There is evidence that some Ankylosauria supplemented their diet with meat!
