Texas, (looking south) 65.2 million years ago (give or take 30,000years) End Cretaceous, (K-Pg extinction).
Name: Quetzalcoatlus
Meaning of name: From Quetzalcoatl, the plumed serpent of Aztec mythology.
Species: Q. lawsoni.
Classification: Pterosauria, Pterodactyloidea, Azhdarchidae. Β
Time period: Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous. Β
Distribution: Texas, Javelina Formation.
Wingspan: 5.5m
Lifestyle: Hunter/scavenger?
The last of the Pterosaurs rushing towards each other for a final embrace before the asteroid impact blows them & 70% of prehistoric animals into pre history! As animal lovers we should show our respect.
