Description
Well, I've just typed this, and my already dubious internet connection just reset itself and erased my tiny (but thoughtful) comment.A little doodle I did at the Art Crawl a few weekends ago that evolved into a little drawing. I rather like this crosshatching, I've not done it for a while.
Yes. I have split artistic personalities. Honestly, I wonder if there are at least two or three different souls in me trying to get art out. You can consider this just another facet of my schizophrenic style...
This has a rival as far as vying for which will become a finished piece is concerned. I will need to finish the other sketch to make a conclusion, and probably draw many more. The result will more than likely be a gift for a friend in need of some good cheer... I have many friends that need this, now that I think of it...
*Goes off to work on making nice things for people*
Critiques, comments, etc are welcome as always.

This is really lovely. I love the style of shading you've chosen as it gives the unicorn a sense of life. The detail in the mane is just amazing!

Beautiful! I love how you defined the mane, eyes and ears especially. What pencils/tools and whatnot did you use for this?

Oh, just my trusty 0.5 mechanical pencil. I'm clever like that.

Hmmm... I think it was just HB lead in my trusty 0.5 mechanical pencil. It's what I had on me at the time...
Oh yes, most definitely. Or a pen, for that matter.

Have I mentioned how much I love your cross-hatching?
I envy your pencils, they always have such wonderful flow to them...
You've rendered the head beautifully; the way the mane fades out to little wispy strokes is wonderful.
Sometimes I wonder the same thing; every piece I do seems to be in a different style, haha.
I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or if I should be concentrating on developing one specific way of doing things...

Aww, thanks! I'm really tempted to do some more of these, and maybe some small finished sketches on some proper paper. I am always amazed by how much I miss doing finished pencil work.
If it helps, I can tell you that I think your work does maintain a "style," even though your approaches can be rather diverse. I get told the same thing from time to time, and I've been told that it's a good thing. Plus, it keeps us from getting bored!

Ah, yes... I had always wished to own (and ride) a horse, but have only ridden once, and briefly.
Maybe someday...

That little twisty bit in his mane was a surprise. I liked it so much, that I finished it, made it feel more realistic!
I love their profiles. So majestic! It's such a great feeling when I find myself a little closer to capturing it.

I think it's the most fun part of a piece, other than the few stages before the end of a painting...
