It's canon because it's in the manga and the entirety of dragonball manga is canon. Go ahead and read it yourself if you don't believe me, it's easy to find, go to kissmanga.com and put in dragonball and read the last chapter or 2. DBGT isn't canon because it's not in the manga. Why would you say something so strange as to insist that part of the manga is canon and other parts are not.

Yeah, well, anything he does NOW is pretty much the same as anything George Lucas does to Star Wars NOW. In other words, anything he does now doesn't count in my opinion, he's just a doddering old coot, trying to ride the coattails of what he did as a young man since he has nothing else to show for his old age. I'm certainly not going to watch or read any of the recent crap, I understand he added to it and now Goku has a mother and that he no longer came to the Earth to destroy all life here but rather had an identical backstory to Superman? I say BULLSHIT! No one has the authority to retcon his own work after this much time, especially in such a fundamental way, he's not the same person he was all those years ago.
