Personality before Glory City
Zanarkand was a vicious, mischievous, vengeful and murderous dragon back in his old days of glory. Never had he found someone who could stand against his powers among those of his own age, and often he ended up fighting against those who wanted to prove themselves better. Often he killed his enemies out of sheer anger.

Personality during Glory City
Quiet, overall a secluded guy. He doesn't like fighting, nor does he want to be involved into conflicts when his presence is unneeded. Soft spoken, he keeps to himself for the most part.
He doesn't like violence anymore, and strives to bring peace to those around him.
To his friends, he becomes more open and warm, much less introverted and sometimes even comes to confessing his fears to those really close to him.
Still, he kept a little spark of anger and urge to kill when his family or friends are endangered.

Story
As a Sacred Eastern Dragon, Zan was born with powers that go far beyond the imagination of a simple mortal. One of those powers was, for example, the ability to bring back to life those who had died. Another one of his powers was being able to turn water into blood, something that he was used to do when he had killed one of his nemesis.
After years of mischief and three or four deaths caused by him, the Council of the Sacred Dragons finally took the decision. They deprived him of almost all of his powers, degrading him from Sacred to Common dragon. The only few abilities that he was left were his shapeshifting ability, but with the limit of shifting only into a half-human creature, and his flying ability, but this one was strictly limited too: only when he did a good deed he would be granted a hour of free flight, before being chained to the ground again.

Banished from his homeland and the dimension where the Sacred Ones lived, he had nothing more than roam into the realm of the living, to settle somewhere and either plot his revenge or find a way to live a fairly 'normal' life.

In one of his travels, he heard about a couple about to go to a certain “Glory City”, and while eavesdropping them he found out that this city was the place where whoever had a dream should have gone. He hid in the luggage of a tourist (as a small dragon) and flew to Glory City, fleeing as soon as he arrived.

Unlike he imagined, the city wasn't as special as people spoke, it was just a normal city divided, unlike the others, into sectors. Even angrier, but hopeless, he decided to stick there for a little while and try to find a way to get by.
In the sector named “Middle” by the citizens, he involuntarily lured with his tail a little girl into the street where he was hiding.
Weirdly enough, the little girl, named April, managed to soothe his soul a bit and he felt comfortable enough to follow her in her home.

April, with her brother agreement, forced Zan to stay at their place until he found an apartment of his own. Zanarkand was, still, a pretty sharp tongued and mischievous dragon by that time, but the months she spent with April shaped him into a better dragon, and person. And thus Zan's search for a job started.

In his second month in Glory City, when he was already starting to change for the better, he met April's little friend and a few of Joey's friends: Mac, Riley, Ares and Adrian.
During this month also, for the very first time he did a good deed, by helping a homeless man in the Labyrinth.

He has swore to always help those in need the day he had his own life saved.
