Ironic how she believes in others, but lacks the same thing for herslf, which hindered her in getting into a team for a long time before she was able to be with the three team members that she was most comfortable being around with. Born in the Dominican Republic during The Era of Trujillo, to a single woman named Saqui, Rayen's mother had the amusing humor to make their names fit together as "Favorite" and "Flower". Fitting since she owned a small garden in the apartment that they lived in. Rayen and her mother lived among close neighbors and friends of the family in their community. Her mother was part of rising activists who found President Rafael Trujillo's changing laws to be questionably unsound and unsafe. It was quite the double edged knife: while he helped the country get out of financial debt, he also was promoting propoganda against Haitians and enforcing "more white" intergration. She was too young to understand this at the time but even after his term in office, he still had a hand in the politics by conditioning the subsequent presidents into the same ideal he had. Also unbeknowst to Rayen until she was old enough to understand, her mother and her mother's friends were part of their own small activist group against Trujillo and his puppet presidents. Her mother died some years before Hector Trujillo was re-elected president in 1957. Some suspected of a small illness that snuck up on the poor woman, others figured foul play from the government wiping out oppressors. Either way, she died, and without a father around, her little Rayen was only 7 years old and all alone.

Luckily, Saqui was also cordial and friendly, so her close friends took the little girl in to watch after. She was passed around for a few months until there was an acceptable living arrangement with a couple that didn't have kids of their own. She was allowed to keep her last names in honor of her mother, but they loved her all the same. They did have some kids of their own eventually when Rayen was 11, and distraught that they would disown her and turn her away, she stayed at her school, refusing to go home. It was a terrible time to decide for running away from home, since just recently the murders of the three Mirabal sisters had caused high concern and her foster family went about looking for her. They found her, reaffirmed belief in her that she was part of the family too, proving that they were worried sick when they couldn't find her and thought she was killed since they, too, were against the government.

Rayen moved to Puerto Rico during the immigration waves two years after the Assassination of Trujillo. She was only 14, but the similar speaking country gave her some common ground and transition from one state to the next didn't prove to be a big problem for her.

-Pre Death-
Their time in Puerto Rico was brief, merely a year-long stepping stone before moving to Miami Beach, Florida. The parents of their household figured it'd be more safer for the children to pursue an education as well as being introduced to the English language first hand. Rayen struggled a lot in high school, being thick accented and small not helping her amongst her peers, she found comfort within her pseudo-relatives at home while staying in contact with her old friends back in the DR. Eventually by the time of her graduation, Rayen did make some friends and moved out, not really set for going to college but making money doing agricultural work instead. In her spare time she would go to protest rallies with friends, even dragging some along beside her during the US intervention in 1966. They lived in a van and would travel along the state of Florida, doing odd end jobs here and there while fighting the good fight; It wasn't ideal but it was their way of life and Rayen loved it. She even became an activist, joining the then growing Black Panthers Party, all the while keeping true to her ideals of everyone living in peace.

Even talk about astronauts heading to the moon, Rayen got starry eyed. If scientists could reach outside of the box with their intellectual thinking and go as far as reaching past the earth and stars to reach the moon, then the same could happen for peace, right?

Well...

Things within the BPP got pretty bad, even though they were civil rights activists, some were more "active" than others and fought back harder against the police involvement. There were many casualties and in the summer of 1969, Rayen was one of them. She turned around once in the middle of a fight to calm a friend down and a Policeman shot her point blank in the back of her head.

All she had in her hands were flowers and bracelets for peace.

-Post Death-
Awakening in a field of flowers was very jarring for her. Not for the fact she was dead, no that realization came much later, but she was in one violent area in one minute and then placed in a peaceful neutral ground the next. To say she was scared would be putting it lightly, the young woman was absolutely terrified. She even ran away within minutes after they took her ID card, not bothering to wait for an explanation. A knock to her door and a slip underneath the crack of the laminated card later, Rayen was faced with reality: She was dead. She didn't know which felt colder, her ID card or cold hard truth.

She was dead and she was all alone in the world.

Rayen remained alone for some time, keeping her distance save a few she had to interact with. Be it for food, doing her classes, or being dragged along for reaping orders. She was passed along from team to team, never making lasting connections. Eventually she found herself asleep back to the field where her second life all began. Resting among the chrysanthemums brought her the first sense of clarity she had in months, their multicolored petals flowing in the breeze together as one. They were all different, but here for a reason. They might've missed their real world counterparts, or not at all, but the matter of the fact was that they were not alone.

And neither was she.

-From Then to Now-
After her realization in the gardens, Rayen made a bit of a turn around within the later part of her Near 50 Years with HQ. Still quiet, the young woman has made some effort, even if it's small.

Currently, Rayen has been content. She spends most of her time in the serenity of the gardens and Chrysanthemum fields, or lounging near the Death Cafe--she still wonders how that apprentice was able to pull it off, but they have wonderful coffee so she she's not complaining. Regardless of the decades she had spent here at HQ, she's still wary of new arrivals and keeps mostly to herself, out of pure habit of being shy and unsure of how to approach, but eventually warms up to each and every one of them--if they're nice. It's more often to find her on the outside looking in, watching as she views them from afar before deciding to head over. She remembers how it feels being frightened and confused after waking up from recently dying, so if she's able to bring them some ease then it's her own way of giving each and every one of them peace.

-Very nimble and quick, Rayen is easily able to reach into smaller spaces and utilize her short stature to it's fullest advantage. Normally in life before dying, she was used to infiltrate companies at night, sneaking in and out with very important documents to use for their cause. Her past hobbies with playing with plants, climbing trees and being an outdoorsy person has helped her coordination to be high as well. She's very good with her hands.

-Being small and stockily built allows her to be more grounded and take in much more punches than the average woman. Becoming sick is hardly in her agenda, her stamina is quite high, she's very scrappy and doesn't mind getting dirty-- she's used to being barefoot outdoors since she could first walk. However, just because she can take a beating than most doesn't mean she won't cry from it (spoiler: she will, expect ghibli-styled tears).

There's a calm other-worldly serene sense of thinking within her brain. It's rather optimistic and rational on most days.

DA Notes: I get to them, depending on the length of the message if we're rping or not I can....vary in response time. Plus there's life, so that's a definite variable.
Skype: Easy to ping on skype, if I can, I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Forums: UH... IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE I'VE BEEN ON ONE--LIKE 2010?! HOW. HOW DO--if you don't mind me fumbling around and asking more questions than rping, then that'll be great.
PLEASE NOTE!!!: It's been a very long, long, LONG time since I've done lit-rps well and I'm still trying to get into the swing of it again. Odds are, I normally do script/regular headcanoning before actual rping so if you can put up with that, then bless you for putting up with lil ol' me. <3;;;
