PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT UNLESS YOU HAVE READ MY WHOLE ARTIST'S COMMENT!!! I don't mind debating with people but only in a logical and civil manner. I will not put up with any flaming or dealing with people who obviously did not take the time to read my point of view.
I have never had problems with people calling Toad and Toadette siblings. It makes sense and it's cute. Besides I am guilty of similar speculations; I like to think of Peach and Daisy as cousins and Toad as Peach's younger brother.
What I do have a problem with people who morally criticize those who ship them as a couple; people claiming that by coupling them together means supporting incest. Really, what gets to me more is when someone rubs that he or she was right by about their relationship in the faces of people who think otherwise.(Later more common them former.)
-Toadette's first appearance was in Mario Kart: Double Dash which was released back in late 2003. Mario Kart Wii did not come out until around 4.5 years later in early-mid 2008.
-The North American strategy guide book for MKW, published by Prima Games, is the first and only time that Toad and Toadette have ever been referred to as anything other then good friends. This means that before then, their relation was 100% free interpretation by the fan community.
Main point in relation to the picture:
As previously stated, the official Mario Kart Wii strategy booklet, while having the official Nintendo seal, was written by Prima Games not Nintendo. This means Toadette's bio in that book which reads "Toad's sister has been granted permission to play from Princess Peach. She's so excited!" is a statement made by Prima, not Nintendo.
Yes, there is the chance that Nintendo may eventually confirm this statement, but until that time comes, if at all, no one has the right to say that it is wrong to refer to Toad and Toadette as a couple instead of siblings.

IΒ΄ve got a VERY old Mario Game for SNES, And the guide said that Birdo is a boy and pretends to be a girl. Though, I believe that theyΒ΄re a couple. I noticed that with MK ending screen and at the main story of Mario Galaxy they also did, so they actually CANT be bro and sis. But...everybody can have his own opinion to that. I saw them as a couple since I knew em and itΒ΄s cute. Somebody asked Nintendo about if Birdo is a boy or a girl. Maybe someone can ask Nintendo about it. My opinion: I mean, come on! Luigi, Mario, even Yoshi have got girlfriends. And for MKDD they needed a partner for Toad so (I bet) they decided to create a Toad-Girl, which can be his girlfriend, too. ALL of that Prima Games guides are QUITE bad so I dont use em. That all from me.

Did hardly anybody notice the ending-screen of MKW? They were holding hands and Toadette even winked to the camera (while Daisy was staring at them). This can't be a brother-sister thing... And it was made before the ''Official' Mario Kart Wii Guide from Prima. I'm just saying it.
Like you said: It doesn't matter at all, because it's fiction. I really like to see them as a couple, but everbody's got his/her own opinion. Anyway, I totally agree with you.

When I was a little younger I always thought Toad and Toadette was considered a couple...then later I heard that they were brother and sister from some people that were always pissed about people calling them a couple. I think they can make a good couple, but their so many toads that look so identical. XD

From what I saw in the intro of Super Mario Galaxy their are two toadettes in the same picture which instantly prooves that Toadettes are a species like Toads and that some Ts and Ts can be siblings and some can be lovers. (or some can even be both)

I saw someone who posted a picture of Toadette's MKW bio in here......and everyone was posting things like "Ha! Proof!" and the lot.
Then the last comment was someone says that they had always thought that Toad and Toadette were a couple and the person who posted the picture was pretty rude to them, in my opinion. They said something similar to "Well you thought wrong! "

Ouch >_<;
I really dislike people like that.
It's fiction, and people get so serious about it. Plus it's just incredibly rude to belittle an opinion.
Good for you for making this!

You're welcome ^_^.
Nah. You're trying to make a solid point, so you have to be a little biased and "loud" XD
Your first rant. *sniff* I'm so proud!

Does it really even matter? I mean, there are probably thousands of identical looking Toads in the Mushroom Kingdom (half of which are probably named Toad, too), so why insist on shipping Toadette with the one Toad who might be her brother (or the other way round)?

I know it doesn't matter, especially since we're talking about fiction characters. I was just trying to make a point.
Thanks for spending the time to read all that. :3
